pulsing moments into light (2013)
for electric violin and digital delay
by Adam Hirsch
written for Yuri Popowycz
Yuri Popowycz - electric violin
Adam Hirsch - electronics
I wrote this piece as a musical exploration of a series of field recordings I took in creek beds throughout central Ohio and upstate New York in October 2013. My experiences in these areas happened at the peak of fall, during a time of both suspension and transformation in the natural landscape of the Northeast. The music strives to recreate my sonic, visual, and emotional impressions of these unique spaces. The piece is written for violinst Yuri Popowycz, who I worked with extensively throughout the composing process.
Thanks to Yuri for exploring with me, and to Peter Swendsen for guidance and inspiration throughout the process.
Premiered at Yuri Popowycz's Junior Violin Recital
